All Things Natural

I was born in Finland. It is a country in northern Europe, maybe mostly known for its ice hockey and traditional sauna. Most Finns love nature's four seasons and natural décor in their homes. I'm not an exception.

December 2023:

Some world-renowned design professionals, such as Alvar Aalto and Oiva Toikka, were both Finns and they obviously gained inspiration from the nature. The iconic Aalto Vase is one of my all time favorites, as is Oiva Toikka's Birds; all items reflect beautifully manifoldness of nature.

As a nature lover I often adopt something from nature in my designs, even if it's only a few attractive tree branches or a bowl of pine cones. If any space looks too sterile and cold, my first reaction is to add some coziness into it. Maybe you feel the same way?

Combining contemporary and modern elements with the warmth of wood is a typical Scandinavian way to create spaces that are simple, yet adorned with details of natural materials, such as granite and pine.

In Scandinavian décor reindeer hides, sheep hides, and wool blankets are commonly placed into a family room or even on a kitchen bench. They are not only beautiful, but long lasting and practical solutions for the need of softness and texture. They are perfect in a Muskoka cottage, too!

Enjoy your next walk outdoors!
