Orchid - the Queen of Houseplants
Have you ever looked at blooming orchids really close? They have very intricate details and you cannot but marvel their almost indescribable beauty. The best of all, they bring life and color into a space - which can be beautiful on its own - but still lacking “something“.
HOMENATUREUSE OF COLOR

August 2024:
Years ago I spent three months in Chiang Mai, Thailand. There I was first introduced to the uniqueness of orchids… they were growing even in the wild; marvelous, big clusters of colorful flowers. For a Nordic woman, an aesthete, it was a mind-blowing experience. (No wonder orchid is the national flower in the Thai kingdom.)
Orchids bloom for weeks, even for months. They are grateful and happy bloomers when they get some sunlight and water about once a week. This is great news for busy people who are not necessarily green thumbs but want to have a blooming plant at home or in the office. Lucky you, if you have a sunroom where to grow these beauties!
Orchids are readily available at supermarkets at any time of the year and prices are usually reasonable, compared to cut flowers that last in a vase only for a few days. Next time, when thinking of a housewarming gift, an orchid is a safe and appreciated choice.
I don’t have many houseplants but I always have an orchid or two at home. Or three… I love their colors, easy maintenance and immediate feel of elegant luxury that they lend into a space.
Life is even more beautiful with some orchids around!
