When Is the Right Time?
Decision making is one of the fun, yet demanding, aspects of human life. Growing up, we despair how slowly time goes by and when we reach the age of 30, we start thinking that time flies by too fast. Home improvements are usually not on the top of the list when we are in the process of deciding how our hard earned money should be spent.
RENOVATIONHOME

June 2024:
However, the best home renovations improve the function of your space, not just the look of it. What kind of price tag or timeline to put for a better workflow in the kitchen or more sensible location for an outdoor tap?
My husband generally throws nothing away. (He would say though, that this is a gross generalization.) I keep something that I know I will use later, and all that is no longer fitting, will go to garbage or recycling.
I understand that the right time is a subjective matter and even nostalgia may have an impact on how we view things. “My Dad carved that bowl when he was 16 years old; I can never let go of it.” Maybe so, no matter how unusable or displeasing to the eye it is. I get it; I have stuff from my family that I can’t even think of throwing away. Ever.
In the end, I believe that we mostly manage to make decisions when the time is right. When the thought has ripened enough. Sometimes decisions are forced. Sometimes a foreseeable situation hastens our thought process.
It’s also true that “there is no time like the present”. For making things better, soon is not always fast enough.
Go for it!
